What is it ?

A software application that allows you to install the complete Albatross System on your computer so that you can use the database even if there is no internet connection available!

System requirements

You need a powerful computer, about 5GB of free hard disk space, minimum 2GB RAM.

The complete installation will download about 2GB of data !! A very fast Internet connection is necessary.

Runs on Windows, OSX and Linux.

How does it work ?

The software simulates our web server on your computer. Handling is then identical to what you are used to: just connect with your web browser!

Installation instructions

Depending on your system(32 bit or 64 bit), download and run

OSX will prevent you from opening our application by just clicking it.

Please proceed as follows:

  • Press the Control key, then click the downloaded dmg icon.
  • Choose Open from the shortcut menu.
  • Click Open.

The app is saved as an exception to your security settings, and you will be able to open it in the future by double-clicking it, just like any registered app.

Move the Jwrapper-albatross_server application into the application folder.

Click to start it.

More information on Apple's Gatekeeper security system.

Untar it and execute the contained file.

Running it

When you run the Albatross Server for the first time, it will ask for your user credentials and initiate a data upload.

This will take a long time !

Once all data is downloaded, you can always run the server without any download.

1. Make sure to have an internet connection.

2. Start the local database server.

3. Press the "Update" button.

How often are updates published?

Our own web server creates a new version available for updates every night.

When you initiate an update, your local data will be less than 24 hours old compared to the "real" online data.
